The Cyber Museum, launched by the National Heritage Board in conjunction with Visual Factory is an online 3D platform that serves educational, curatorial, social e-engagement and marketing purposes. Schools can leverage on this platform to construct a virtual heritage centre or do collaborative projects with counterparts. As part of the 3D Cyber Museum competition, Interior Design students were inspired to convert the present Raffles Design Institute campus into a Design Museum. The students' perspective of the museum is its focus on the history of Raffles Design Institute ever since it was established in 1990 and to showcase Raffles Designers' works and achievements throughout the years. With this challenge, 3 groups of students successfully conceptualized their ideal Design Museum – the Raffles Design Museum.
Design Concept: Bright, Lively & Form
Interior Design Students Ivan Wong, Sung Li Ling, Jennifer and Selvi Thomas Edy Leo's concept = Bright, Lively & Form used modular design as the main approach. With various lighting systems to create dramatic, bright and lively environment, the students conceptualize their ideal Raffles Design Museum to be vibrant and full of life.
Design Concept: Container Utopia
Stefan Christian Arliyanto (Leader), Andika Pratama Halim, Tan Hong Shen, Selvi Thomas Edy Leo
The image that one gets when imagining a container is a space confined within 4 walls. This is hardly the case for this group of interior designers. "The container is interpreted as a vessel which contains the emotion and achievements that the students have had during their time in Raffles Design Institute." Stefan explains. "We hope that when people come to visit, they can visualize how students play around with creativity, something churned out from within 4 walls." Playing with visuals, the group experiments with huge projector screens, rotating posters with subdued colors and the result? A Container Utopia

Where minimalists come out to play – Making use of white tones, the group plays around with technology where possibilities are limitless. Using touch screen islands, wireless, electric batteries and polished white concrete floor and white partitions, their perception of the design museum is a picture of the future.
The pursuit of creativity is boundless, so start building these dreams today.
