1st Inter-university Basketball Tournament

In May 29, 2010 student council of Raffles and MIU have organized friendly basketball competition among these universities successfully. These two universities are the only international universities in Mongolia. Therefore, we are planning to organize art festival, English public speaking and basketball competition from October 2010 onwards. This basketball competition was the base of relationship between these two universities and the main reason was to unite the Raffles students under Raffles name.

The purpose of Raffles student council was to encourage students to interact with each other and spend their spare time in right and efficient way. There were one women’s and four men’s teams from each university which total to eight men’s and two women’s teams. One of our men’s teams won the bronze medal. We were so proud that our students participated very actively; they respected and cheered one another as one family which named Raffles. We made t-shirts with our university’s emblem and honored name for the basketball competition and we hope these tshirts would make students feel proud of our school and at the same time advertise for Raffles. It is a pleasure to mention that this competition was the first event to race with our strength, quickness and talent against another university in history of Raffles Mongolia.



We realized from this tournament that it is our responsibility to arrange as many competitions as we can; bring our school honored reputation upward and merge the students under one main goal which is to be a winner in competitions and their lives. After the competition, our students were so satisfied and expressed their desire to participate in future events and this gave us the motivation to do more things for them. The main objective is not to get medals, but to motivate the students to enjoy and be active in their student lives. When students graduate from Raffles International Institute, we want the students to not only get academic knowledge and skills but also be able to remember how wonderful and memorable their student life was, and feel a sense of belonging to Raffles. With all these memorable, funny and actionable photographs, we would like to congratulate all our participants; let them be recognized by all Raffles students and staff. We would like to express that we are so proud of them! Thank you for making this event a success!
