*Learn from the strengths and weaknesses of the organizers competency in events management

The Vung Tau Field Trip is a learning experience. Seventy one Business students including two students from Interior Design and nine lecturers had the chance to observe the 5-day celebration of the World Food Festival in Vung Tau on the 23rd of July 2010.

Oh Yes, a learning experience!
And it started HERE . . .

Students came in Raffles at exactly 5:00 AM. Others even arrived earlier than 5:00 AM. What a way to start the day. . . Everybody was so excited to reach Vung Tau! Who would not be the promotion of the World Food Festival in both print and broadcast media are very inviting!

9:45, we arrived at Vung Tau seeing the beach and how the organizers are preparing for the festival.

In the program, road show, fun and games, serving of food will start at 11:00 AM. We were one hour and 15 minutes early. Thanks to Raffles International College for instilling in the minds of the students the value of being punctual.

The students of Raffles with their Lecturers, preparing to go to Imperial Hotel. . .

And continued THERE. . .

Heading towards Imperial Hotel for a 30 minute meeting with the organizers of the World Food festival

It was indeed a Sunny day! And the car park is one and one half kilometers away from Imperial Hotel

Mr. Joseph Schurley, a business Program Coordinator, Raffles Business students with their beautiful smiles and Ms. Piggy(cartoon character included in the road show!)

Management, and Tourism programme joined together, with the same mission -to learn from the experience of the organizers of the World Food Festival and to enjoy the food from 40 participating countries!

Don’t be mislead, the guy is not Don Johnson of Miami Vice TV. Series. He is Mr. Andrew Sadler, Raffles Lecturer in Business and with her is Ms.Yelena Redko, lecturer in Finance.

After a 35 minute walk . . . at last we reached the famous Imperial Hotel!

Students had the privilege of a 40 minute discussion with the organizers of the World Food Festival. Thanks to the management of Imperial hotel for accommodating us in their Conference room.

And EVERYWHERE . . .

At 2:00 PM. . . still patiently waiting for the food to be served in the different booths outside of the hotel!

Everywhere food booth but no food?

At 4:00 PM .. .still No Food in the booth!

We truly realize that PATIENCE is a virtue.

Oh, what is this scenario? This is a makeshift kitchen at the back, outside of Imperial Hotel where the food to be sold in the booth were being prepared.

Food booth of the United States where students expected to taste the yummy hot dogs and hamburger.

The service providers seemed so tired explaining to the customers the non-availability of the yummy hot dogs and hamburger.

At 5: 00 PM they started selling food . . .

And people kept on walking scouting for good food ...

And at 5:00 PM we proceeded to the bus station for our 3 hour travel back to Raffles International College, Ho Chi Minh City.

This is a WALK TO REMEMBER . .

And a 16 hour journey to learn Events Management . . .
